Life Skills Manager – Parttime

Under the supervision of a member of the leadership team, the Part-Time (Bilingual) Life Skills Manager will be responsible for providing direct supervision of youth in the Urban Peak Neighborhood programs. This includes assisting youth in increasing self-efficacy and reducing risky behavior, ensuring client safety, providing delivery of appropriate and effective program services and maintaining a safe and positive environment. Duties include supervision of youth in accordance with facility rules and regulations, crisis intervention, facilities maintenance, group facilitation, promotion of a therapeutic environment, accurate, timely and consistent data collection, and data entry. This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.

Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Housing Specialist

Under the supervision of a leadership team member, the   Housing Specialist (State Housing Vouchers) will be responsible for all voucher administration and program compliance phases. This includes program participant eligibility, inspections (Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and NSPIRE), participant and landlord engagement, and data entry.  The Housing Specialist is responsible for providing supervision of the youth both on-site and at off-site activities, case management, group facilitation, youth assessments, crisis phone counseling, client data collection, documentation, file maintenance, reporting maintenance issues, and ensuring that the program is facilitated in a manner that meets Urban Peak’s mission. The housing specialist will work with youth at the shelter or a housing program.  Urban Peak serves a wide variety of youth in shelters and/or housing that are experiencing homelessness.  The continuum of needs ranges from high-functioning youth to youth with severe behavioral health concerns.  This position will ensure that interactions, interventions, and environments at Urban Peak are trauma-informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff. The SHV will report to the Housing Director and the Division of Housing (DOH).

Outreach Worker

Under the supervision of the Outreach Supervisor, the Outreach Worker will be responsible for connecting with youth on the streets to build healthy and strong relationships with these youth in hopes of helping them on their path to self-sufficiency. The Outreach Worker acts as a liaison to inform youth, the community, and businesses about the services offered by Urban Peak to promote the health, safety, and well-being of homeless and runaway youth and to assist them in permanently exiting the street life. Other duties include coverage of program shifts at the Mothership, outreach on the streets and to Denver area shelters, intensive and basic needs case management, and facilitation of activities. This position also works as part of a larger interagency team to coordinate care and outreach services as part of the Denver Street Outreach Collaborative and as part of the Continuum of Care in the Denver Metro area. This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff. 

Large encampments in Denver are becoming more commonplace and present a set of unique challenges. Some of the other duties of this position, in collaboration with other outreach workers from partner agencies, that include case managers, outreach workers, a peer support specialist and street nurses, will also serve as the service providers dedicated to engaging marginalized individuals in these complex environments. Services provided will include but are not limited to: crises intervention; supplying of basic needs (socks, food, cold weather gear, etc.); facilitation of increased access to the Urban Peak shelter, safe outdoor spaces, medical respite, medical and behavioral health care and COVID-related health care and shelter; transportation; client advocacy; and general service linkage. This position will also build relationships and collaborate with Denver Police, Denver Department of Public Health and Environment, Parks and Recreation, and other city entities as needed to best engage and serve those living in large encampments.

The Urban Peak Outreach Worker will specialize in connecting with youth under the age of 25 and will work to connect with the youth as Case Managers for longer term case management and support. The Encampment Response team works as an extension of the Denver Street Outreach Collaborative (DSOC). This position will ensure that interactions and interventions are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.

Licensed Clinician

Under the supervision of the Director of Wellbeing, the Licensed Clinician will be responsible for the coordination, individual treatment sessions, plans and assessments for their individual case load. In addition, the Licensed Clinician will assist with assessing and coordinating care for individual clients, creating and updating treatment plans, assisting with crisis situations and de-escalation, providing one on one case consultations and services focused on building resiliency, increase in mental health supports, and community among all youth served at Urban Peak. This position also will be responsible for assisting, implementing, and coordination of groups, classes, and activities designed to address mental health and to ensure client data collection, and file maintenance. This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.  Outcomes for this position includes reducing harm to self and others through addressing trauma, mental health, and substance misuse; increased ability to demonstrate healthy resilience for coping with challenges and stresses in life; and improving client’s mental health through behavioral group and individual settings.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Therapist position is responsible for providing culturally responsive and trauma informed, direct therapeutic services to clients in the program. This position administers assessments, individual, group and family therapy, as indicated. Additionally, this position coordinates with other professionals to ensure adequate coordination of services. This position is required to maintain a flexible, organized, and efficient work schedule and is subject to work extended hours and weekends.

Therapist, Children’s Crisis

The New Vistas Therapist‘s purpose is to provide individual, family, and group therapy to children/youth who are admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit. This includes conducting initial assessments, directing clinical services, and assisting with case management and disposition planning for children/youth. This position is three, 12-hour shifts per week.

New Vistas’ mission is to use an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, residential counselors, medical staff and admissions staff to provide brief, 3-5 day, crisis stabilization treatment for children and youth with behavioral health issues, including depression, suicidal thoughts, other trauma reactions, and family issues. Our team coordinates treatment and provides tools and safety planning for children/youth and families so that they can safely return to their homes and the community.  We are committed to serving Colorado’s children/youth while maintaining a non-judgmental and inclusive approach.
