Job Title: Institutional Giving Officer

Hours of Work: Full time 40 hour /week

Reports to: Director of Development & Communications

Position Summary

As a member of the Development & Communications team, the Institutional Giving Officer is responsible for maximizing institutional giving and contributing to the overall fundraising goals of the organization. This position is responsible for a blended portfolio of foundations, corporations, and government funders currently giving or capable of giving gifts (ranging from $2,500-$100,000+) annually and increasing this gift range and portfolio over time. Responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundation, corporate, and government donors and prospects. Includes managing a donor portfolio, conducting donor visits, prospect tracking, proposal and report writing, sponsorship solicitation, and donor stewardship.

Essential Functions

Grants Management 50%

• Write, edit, and compile all grant proposals, LOI, and reports for timely submission, with an eye to quality, accuracy, and data integrity 

• Maintain complete and up-to-date paper and electronic records, including copies of grant applications, reports, and agreements

• Coordinate with finance director, program directors, development director, and data and monitoring evaluator to develop proposals and monitor accountability for grant contracts.

• Ensure that grant awards are communicated to the relevant parties for proper tracking, implementation, and delivery of benefits/recognition (including liaising with volunteer director to support group volunteer projects)

Portfolio Management-40%

• Manage a blended portfolio of 60-80 government, corporate, and foundation donors and prospects, developing trust, confidence and a strong rapport. 

• Conduct donor outreach/visits regularly and often, including qualification, stewardship, solicitation, and site visits. Partner with staff/leadership and prepare pre-meeting planning and post-meeting debriefing and follow up.

• Plan and monitor timeline of activities for each donor or prospect including proposal/reporting due dates, cultivation, and stewardship activities. Track via donor database/CRM and document notes and actions in donor record. 

• Identify, qualify, and cultivate foundation and corporate prospects to ensure sustainable funding for all organizational programs, including emerging priorities and programs. 

• Prepare funding proposals and reports for major gifts staff

• Develop sponsorship packages and solicit business sponsors for annual event(s)

• Engage local businesses to give through corporate marketing dollars/sponsorships, foundation grants, volunteering, and employee matching

• Strengthen the employee giving program through creation of compelling appeals and strategic communications, collaborating with the team to identify and develop major donor prospects

• Work with staff counterparts in coordinated, org-wide activities, such as joint grant requests, stewardship efforts, and events/receptions

• Serve as an organizational ambassador at institutional events, representing EFAA and fostering meaningful engagement with current and potential supporters

• Support senior staff in developing annual institutional giving revenue projections

Skills / Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience 

• Minimum of two years of experience writing and managing grants and grant reporting or crafting RFP responses in a for-profit organization

• Minimum of two years of experience in relationship building in a business development and / or managing a donor portfolio

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills

• Ability to develop and nurture strong working relationships with EFAA managers, foundation program officers, corporate officers, and government agency officials

• Excellent project and time management skills 

• High degree of personal motivation, self-direction, and detail-orientation 

• Ability to effectively persuade and communicate with diverse audiences

• Proactive and risk taker approach to identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, experience with CRM systems preferred

• Familiarity with the Boulder funding community preferred but not required

Working Environment, Physical Activities and Equipment Used:  

Typical office environment. Regularly uses computers for data input and other work.

Take proper safety precautions while as work, reports unsafe circumstances and takes action to prevent accidents. Responsible for ensuring volunteers and supervised staff adhere to EFAA Safety Rules at all times.

Compensation

This is a full-time position (100% FTE) or 40 hours per week. The salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000. Competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.

Development Manager

Colorado Music Hall of Fame (The Hall) is expanding our staff of one to two and is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented full-time Development Manager to oversee and expand The Hall’s fundraising efforts and special events, including our annual inductions and golf tournament. This is a new remote position that will report directly to the Executive Director. The Development Manager will play a lead role in special event planning and execution, fundraising, corporate outreach and donor relations. Responsible for growing The Hall’s sponsor base and maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing donors, this position plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of The Hall’s growth plans. The ideal candidate has proven success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and securing sponsorships and individual donations. The Development Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to expand and increase development initiatives, strengthening relationships with donors and advancing The Hall’s mission. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a small, but mighty, team of a vibrant and growing Colorado cultural institution with big plans for the future.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Sponsorships & Individual Donor Management:

Develop, manage and retain a portfolio of individual and corporate donors (<$20,000), including identification, cultivation, solicitation, coordination and stewardship. 

Research prospective donors and sponsors for new funding opportunities.

Establish stewardship processes and benefits packages to attract and maintain long-term relationships.

Develop and manage tracking for individual and corporate sponsors.

Oversee gift processing, donor acknowledgments and maintain accurate donor records.

Collaborate with Executive Director to develop sponsorship goals and giving levels for all events.

Consistently meet or exceed annual revenue goals.

Support the Executive Director and board with identification of and preparation for meetings with major donors (>$20,000) and Capital Campaign prospects.

Event Coordination/Management:

Lead planning and execution of events, including annual inductions and golf tournament and all other special events.

Responsible for overall event budget management: revenue goals, expenses and obtaining net goal.

Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with vendors to coordinate event logistics and show production, and ensure compliance with local ordinances.

Develop and implement event marketing and promotional plans and materials.

Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation by tracking and reporting ticket sales, sponsor pledges and payments.

Manage RSVPs and communications with attendees.

Solicit and manage in-kind donations in support of events (i.e., services, golf competition prizes, drawing and auction items)

Recruit, train, manage and recognize event volunteers.

Report internally on event totals and successes/challenges.

Fundraising & Event Marketing and Communications:

Collaborate with the ED to develop strategy for marketing each event, including press release, website, social media, advertising, email communications and more.

Work with contract designers to create compelling materials, including sponsorship proposals, pitch decks, advertisements, event collateral, etc.

Create and manage donor communications, including acknowledgement letters, thank-you notes, invites, campaigns and updates.

Support donor recognition efforts, including special mailings and impact reports.

Recruit, train, manage and recognize marketing volunteers.

General Fundraising Projects:

Lead general and annual fundraising campaigns, including Colorado Gives Day/year-end and special appeals.

Coordinate mailings, filing, and other clerical duties as needed for fundraising campaigns and events.

Collaborate with the ED and contracted grant writer on grant applications and reporting.

Track and analyze giving trends to support fundraising strategies; track revenue and fundraising metrics against goals and budget to drive data-informed fundraising decisions.

Manage fundraising expenses in alignment with the approved budget.

Manage brand and event merchandise sales/online shop

Develop and oversee new fundraising initiatives (TBD)

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing/communications or related field.

3-5 years of work experience in nonprofit development and event management; has a track record of success in soliciting and securing gifts and sponsorships from individuals and corporations and in organizing fundraising and other events.

Excellent organizational, time management and follow-through skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize to meet deadlines and manage budgets.

This full-time exempt remote position’s normal working hours will be between 9 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. The position will require periodic work on weekends and evenings as required by events and cultivation activities. Applicants from the greater Denver metro area preferred.

Director of Development

Job Overview:

The Director of Development  is a key leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s strategy for individual donor engagement and cultivation and corporate giving. This role involves managing major gifts, mid-level giving, and planned giving programs, building and maintaining relationships with individual donors, and

Development Director

Summary

The Development Director is responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the mission of Project Self-Sufficiency. This role requires a dynamic and strategic leader who can cultivate relationships with donors, oversee fundraising initiatives, and develop long-term financial sustainability strategies. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Development Director works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to drive philanthropic support.    

Essential Functions and Duties   

Fundraising & Development Strategy 

· Develop and implement comprehensive resource development plan, including major gifts, corporate partnerships, annual giving, and special events. 

· Set and achieve revenue targets in alignment with organizational goals. 

· Monitor and analyze fundraising trends to refine strategies to maximize impact. 

  

Donor Relations & Stewardship 

· Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners. 

· Develop compelling donor engagement and recognition strategies. 

· Oversee donor database management, ensuring accurate tracking of donor interactions and contributions. 

· Create and oversee donor portfolios and track and analyze segmentation. 

  

Event & Campaign Leadership 

· Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring alignment with donor engagement strategies.

Director of Development

This position collaborates closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Philanthropy Committee to drive donor engagement, secure major gifts and corporate sponsorships, and expand community awareness. The Director of Development will oversee all fundraising initiatives, donor relations, and collaborate on marketing efforts to ensure financial sustainability and growth.

Qualifications:

– Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.

– Experience in prospecting, soliciting and stewarding major gifts from individuals and corporate sponsors.

– Experience in working with staff, board members, volunteers and donors to make connections, identify prospects and create a culture of philanthropy. 

– Experience in increasing community awareness through development and distribution of PR/marketing materials. 

– Proficiency in donor database management software for tracking and reporting.

– Must be available for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
