About The Weld Trust

The Weld Trust’s (TWT) mission is, “To promote excellence in health and education in Weld County”. It is a health conversion foundation whose beginnings came from the sale of North Colorado Medical Cnter
in Greeley, Colorado in October 2019. TWT exists as a Supporting Organization to the Weld Legacy Foundation (WLF). The two organizations have mirrored Missions and Boards. WLF also does fundraising and funds capacity-building services that benefit health and education causes in Weld County, Colorado. WLF also serves as the fiscal agent for Bright Futures, a workforce development program, initiated by the Weld County Board of County Commissioners to provide financial support to students in Weld County.

Job Summary

The Senior Program Officer – Capacity Building is a newly created role which will work with key grant partners of TWT to build leadership, operational, and programmatic capacity. This position will focus on providing strategic support, guidance, and resources to help these organizations grow, improve effectiveness, and sustain their mission-driven work. The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit
management, grantmaking, capacity building, and an understanding of sector-specific challenges and opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A, though the position will be working with nonprofit executives in a coaching capacity.

Essential Functions (all items pertain to both The Weld Trust and the Weld Legacy Foundation)

1) Capacity Building Support

• Develop a process to identify opportunities to engage with partner organizations that are critically aligned with TWT key funding initiatives and objectives, and maintain an active portfolio of 3-6 nonprofit partners engaged in capacity building.
• Collaborate with nonprofit organizations and service providers to assess their organizational needs and identify areas for capacity improvement.
• Develop and implement tailored capacity-building plans that address operational, financial, programmatic, and governance needs.
• Provide technical assistance and training in areas such as nonprofit management, strategic planning, fundraising, staff development, governance, and evaluation.
• Develop and implement quantitative and qualitative measures to gauge impact of capacity-building services provided to nonprofit partners.

2) Coaching and Resource Development

• Provide direct coaching and leadership to nonprofit executives
• Identify and develop resources that include workshops, webinars, and training sessions on various topics related to nonprofit capacity building (e.g., grant writing, volunteer management, board development, financial management, and fundraising strategies).
• Build strong relationships with community stakeholders, funders, consultants, and other partners to create opportunities for capacity-building collaborations.
• Foster a network of nonprofits and service providers for mutual support, knowledge-sharing, and best practice exchange.
• Assist nonprofits in identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and improving their resource development strategies. Provide support in establishing or refining systems for financial management and sustainability.
• Works closely with WLF development team to identify opportunities to provide direct development support to critical nonprofit partners.

3) Monitoring,Evaluation, and Reporting

• Support organizations in developing systems for tracking progress on capacity-building goals and outcomes.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of capacity-building initiatives and make recommendations for improvements.
• Regularly report on project outcomes, milestones, and impact to key stakeholders.

4) Grantmaking and Collaboration

• Oversees TWT Operating Grant application, approval, and distribution process
• Works closely with TWT Grant Team to identify organizations with aligned objectives and coordinate support fashioned to maximize outcome achievement
• Participates in meetings, key grantee events and fundraisers, and community activities, to further foster grantee relationship.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in education, health, nonprofit management or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• 7-10 years of successful work experience within a nonprofit or philanthropic organization with specific experience in organizational development or related field. Experience leading a nonprofit organization preferred.
• Valid Colorado drivers license

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Deep understanding of nonprofit operations, including governance, financial management, fundraising, and program design.
• Strong consulting, coaching, and facilitation skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with nonprofit leaders and staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in developing reports, proposals, and presentation materials.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver high-impact workshops and training sessions.
• Ability to analyze data and produce actionable insights for program improvement.
• Ability to represent the organization and its work in a highly competent and professional manner both internally and externally.
• Expert level of knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Word), Internet research, relational database, familiarity with CRM software
• Commitment to organizational mission and values, with a focus on community impact in Weld County

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel Requirements No travel is required for this position.
