Accounting Generalist
The Accounting Generalist is a key support to the finance, programs, and grants teams, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounts payable and receivable functions. This position compiles grant documentation, manages financial records, and provides essential administrative support to maintain accurate and timely financial information. Working closely with the Finance Manager, CPA firm, and Grant Biller, the Accounting Generalist plays a crucial role in all accounting related tasks.
This position will ensure that interactions, interventions, and environments at The Place are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.
JOB DUTIES

- Collect, sort, code, and upload invoices and donations. Manage accurate records for credit card and other company charges, producing monthly reports.
- Prepare standardized and specialized financial reports for executive staff and assist with bank deposit preparation.
- Print payroll records, invoices, and payments for grant submissions, update grant expenditures, and coordinate with the Grants and Compliance Manager.
- Produce and reconcile grant-related accounting reports.
- Attend relevant meetings to stay updated on program activities, providing strategic input aligned with the agency’s mission.
- Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to maintain compliance and support clean audits.
- All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in Accounting is highly preferred; high school diploma is required.
- Minimum of 2 years in general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general ledger management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (QuickBooks Online preferred), along with excellent analytical and detail-oriented abilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
- Dependable transportation and insurability as a driver on The Place’s auto liability policy.

- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Must be computer proficient and possess experience of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Ability to pass federal and state background checks and pre-employment TB screening.
WORK SCHEDULE
Some flexibility on days and specific hours available. Schedule is 40 hours per week. Requires some flexibility to attend meetings and tend to urgent situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this position may be subject to long hours on their feet in an office, outdoor, and shelter environment that may frequently include physical conditions such as inclement weather or temperature extremes, sharps, drugs and paraphernalia, and interpersonal contact from non-employees that include sexual innuendo and raw, abusive or threatening language. Employees must be comfortable providing safer sex supplies and bleach kits to youth.
The PLACE provides personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety training to prepare and protect The PLACE employees in these uncontrolled environments. Compliance with safety protocol is required, which may include the use of PPE, involvement of law enforcement, and/or enactment of emergency protocols, detailed in The PLACE’s Emergency Operations Plan.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner
- Requires the ability to use department equipment, such as telephones, personal computers, adding machines, copiers, fax machines, etc. Position requires frequent use of computer and phone
- Able to hear well enough to communicate with employees and others
- Able to be on feet and mobile up to 8 hours a day
- Able to lift up-to 50 lbs.
