SMALL BUSINESS OUTREACH & OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

As the Small Business Outreach & Operations Coordinator, you will be a critical member of a visionary team working to strengthen BIPOC-owned small businesses and leverage the purchasing power of large institutions to help close the racial wealth gap.

The Objectives You’re Here to Meet
- Expand CCWB’s network of BIPOC-owned small businesses through targeted outreach efforts.
- Build relationships with small business owners and connect them to opportunities that further their business goals.
- Support CCWB’s Small Business team in areas such as event logistics and record keeping.
How You’ll Meet Those Objectives
Small Business Outreach & Support (~45% of time)
- Conduct strategic outreach efforts to build and strengthen relationships with BIPOC-owned small businesses to understand their needs and desires for their businesses and readiness to do business with new markets
- Conduct strategic outreach efforts to recruit small businesses for CCWB programming and for identified procurement needs
- Work with small Business team to coordinate and implement culturally relevant and responsive programming
- Work with small businesses to build capacity as appropriate
- Understand the local small business technical assistance landscape in order to connect small businesses with appropriate support and resources
Connect Small Businesses to New Markets (~15% of time)
- Support the ShopBIPOC Collaborative with business sign-ups and other activities as needed
- Look for market growth opportunities for small BIPOC-owned businesses through a variety of activities such as monitoring BidNet Direct, partner communications, etc.
- Identify and connect small businesses that are a good fit for specific procurement needs
Operational & Organizational Support (~35% of time)
- Coordinate logistics for events and programs, including but not limited to arrangements for space, food, interpretation, childcare, materials, equipment, sign-ins, and feedback processes
- Support Small Business and Anchor Teams with meeting and event scheduling
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date small business data and record-keeping systems
- Support efforts to measure the impact of CCWB’s work on small businesses
- Serve as a liaison between the Small Business Team and the Communications Manager
- Maintain appropriate organizational data and record-keeping systems
- Identify operational issues that need attention and facilitate solutions
- Report on deliverables and contribute to reporting for grants
Other Duties as Assigned (~5% of time)
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of experience with grassroots community organizing, community outreach, community engagement, and/or community event planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bilingual English and another common language spoken in Denver Metro immigrant communities (Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Amharic – intermediate-high level of fluency, verbal and written) and cultural competency
- Experience working with people from low-income and diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice
- Understanding of systems of oppression
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience holding oneself accountable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience planning and effectively facilitating meetings and workshops
- Experience with event planning and logistics
- Empathy and strong interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a team environment
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights/weekends
- Computer skills, including Gmail and Google Suite
- Car and valid driver’s license (mileage reimbursed)
Desired Qualifications
- Strong grasp of Community Wealth Building principles and methodologies
- Experience planning and implementing programs
- Bachelor’s degree in any field
- Experience with HubSpot
- Understanding of movement-building principles and practices
- Familiarity with lean design principles
- Experience managing volunteers and student interns
- Experience planning and effectively facilitating meetings and workshops
- Relationships with Denver area stakeholders (specifically government agencies; nonprofits; the business community; public policy, economic development, and community organizing entities; and labor unions)
