Director of Business Development & Fundraising

Make a Difference at PBS12!
Are you ready to lead the charge in driving growth and innovation at one of Colorado’s most impactful
media organizations? We seek a visionary Director of Business Development and Fundraising to join our
passionate team. If you’re eager to create meaningful change and have a knack for developing strong
relationships, this is your role!

Why PBS12?

At PBS12, we don’t just broadcast content—we tell the real, personal stories that shape Colorado’s
identity. We’re dedicated to exploring diverse perspectives, sparking curiosity, and tackling the issues
that matter most to our community. As a team member, you’ll be part of a vibrant, creative
environment where collaboration and innovation thrive.

Our Mission:

PBS12 is committed to delivering programming that celebrates Colorado’s unique culture, addresses
critical social issues, and fosters a community of learning and discovery. We champion freedom of
expression, respect for our audience, and the exploration of new ideas—all while providing a safe and
enriching space for children.
About the Role:
As the Director of Business Development and Fundraising, you’ll be a key player on our leadership team,
reporting directly to the Vice President of Development and Marketing. Your mission? To craft and
execute bold outreach and fundraising strategies that fuel PBS12’s growth and amplify our impact across
Colorado.

What You’ll Do:

Strategic Vision: Develop and implement powerful strategies to secure fundraising support from
individuals, corporations, and foundations, forging new partnerships and strengthening existing
ones. Design sponsorship and underwriting initiatives that maximize revenue potential.
Collaboration at its Best: Work closely with our content, production, and marketing teams to
ensure our fundraising efforts are as dynamic as our programming.
Relationship Building: Cultivate and steward major donors, corporate partners, and members
through community engagement and unforgettable events. (Some nights and weekends are
occasionally required).
Revenue Growth: Work with the VP of Development and Marketing to create realistic but
ambitious annual revenue plans. Your focus will be on attracting and retaining foundations,
corporate partners, institutional donors, and members. You will oversee a small team and you
will execute on a fundraising portfolio of your own to meet revenue goals.
Membership Leadership: Membership is a crucial aspect of our revenue plan. The position
oversees our membership program, owning data, driving engagement through direct mail
campaigns and renewals—partnering with marketing for timely and effective member
communications and engagement events.
Data-Driven Success: We measure what we treasure. We use data to help determine whether
we are on track to meet our goals. You will analyze and leverage data to drive growth in
membership, major donors, corporations, and foundations.

Financial Stewardship: Monitor and manage financial progress, making strategic adjustments to
meet our development targets.
Technology Savvy: This is not a highly tech-centric job, but it is important to know how to use
tools to better manage your relationships and opportunities.
Personal Touch: Being out in the community is essential. Engaging with PBS12 members,
donors, and partners consistently and in a way that fosters trust and collaboration is critical.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree is valued but is not required.
• Experience: 5-7 years in business development, sales, fundraising, advertising, or a related field.
• Communication Skills
o Persuasive Communication: Ability to clearly and compellingly articulate the
organization’s mission and needs to potential donors.
o Active Listening: Understanding the interests and motivations of donors to build strong
relationships.

practical solutions.
• Proven business acumen and reliability.
• Leadership – Experience leading teams of people, hiring, coaching, and providing goals, support,
and resources to drive team success.
• Working knowledge of CRM systems and office applications such as Microsoft Office.
