Recording Engineer
Description:
The primary role of the Recording Engineer is to manage all recording, recorded and live amplification aspects of the Festival. This person is an integral member of the concert production team. This exciting group of young professionals work closely with the Music Director, musicians, and guest artists in a thrilling and fast paced environment to produce exceptional musical performances.
The Recording Engineer reports to the Production Manager and works alongside the Stage Manager, and two production fellows to ensure proper set up and care of all audio equipment. This position will regularly communicate with the Director of Operations, Production Manager, Music Director, Orchestra Manager, Music Librarian, and all Festival staff regarding audio production needs for venues, equipment, and personnel.
What You Will Do:
Manage all aspects of the recording studio including but not limited to:
- Operate and maintain sound recording equipment
- Run multiple recording devices simultaneously to ensure no lost performances
- Record all performances and rehearsals
- Manage set-up and strike of recording equipment and live amplification
- Manage live audio amplification for Community Engagement concerts, setting microphones, and adjusting levels
- Manage sound needs for all rehearsals and performances
- Train and guide the Production Fellows to assist with recording and live audio needs
- Assist in all production transportation efforts as necessary for run-out performances
- With Music Director input produce best quality recorded product
- Responsible for covering and editing of all performances for internet and radio distribution.
- Responsible for distribution of recordings to musicians and staff at season end.
- Responsible for monitoring all equipment and instruments to ensure proper handling and care, back-of-house
duties, and stage production requirements
- Responsible for enforcing and adhering to all OSHA standards and safety outlines implemented by the Town of
Breckenridge staff and/or festival administration
- Other duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile:
- Previous orchestral recording engineering experience required
- Ability to read music and computer skills are required
- Knowledge of classical music is require
- Must be able to work on an elevated structure (catwalk & genie lifts)
- Strong organizational skills required
- Ability to lift, move or transport up to 75lbs
- Applicant must be able to handle confidential situations with an even-tempered and professional approach
- Must work well under pressure, prioritize effectively, and be detail-oriented
- Above all, must have a positive attitude and be a team player
