Position Summary
The Managing Director, Marketing will lead NEFE’s comprehensive marketing, branding, outreach, and content dissemination strategy to advance the organization’s mission and impact. This role will provide visionary leadership for the Marketing & Engagement Team to ensure all aspects of NEFE’s content creation and impact strategies are centered in equitable and inclusive practices. This experienced leader will have a proven background in marketing strategy, brand management, and the execution of tactical marketing functions. A key collaborator with NEFE’s research, policy, equity, communications, thought leadership, and partnerships teams, this role is central to promoting the impact and outcomes of effective financial education, galvanizing those in and adjacent to the field to act, and advancing the organization’s trusted reputation. This position reports to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Equity and serves as a marketing ambassador with the executive leadership team, managing directors, and other team members responsible for the creation and delivery of key stakeholder information.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities

■ Design, implement, and continuously assess a comprehensive marketing, branding, and engagement strategy to advance NEFE’s positioning, content dissemination, and outreach campaigns
■ Provide leadership, supervision, and coaching for Marketing and Engagement Team members
■ Provide oversight, guidance, and/or support the implementation of critical functions including content, digital, social media, event, and other forms of contemporary marketing; content development/dissemination approaches and channels; multi-media and graphic design optimization; SEO maximization; and CRM development
■ Recommend and leverage existing and emerging platforms and dissemination channels to broaden NEFE’s reach and impact among diverse audiences
■ Lead assessment and data analysis strategy to discern trends, appropriate metrics, KPIs, and tools to drive NEFE’s marketing and branding efforts
■ Utilize data and analytics to guide stakeholder segmentation and engagement strategies
■ Establish a robust internal client services model with NEFE departments to interpret the organization’s business objectives and collaboratively design/deliver
information, outreach, and advocacy campaigns
■ Work closely with communication team members to ensure content production and dissemination is consistent, aligned, and captures the interconnected messaging components of the organization’s work
■ Lead project management efforts to achieve short-term milestones and long-term strategies
■ Partner with the SVP, Equity to develop a marketing and engagement strategy that advances equity and inclusion priorities for financial education
■ Develop and manage the Marketing and Engagement budget; partner closely with content developers across NEFE to accurately forecast resources required to support production and dissemination initiatives
■ Assess, guide, and leverage external vendors as partner resources (e.g., freelance/contractual writers, editors, designers, videographers, printers, etc.)
■ Build and manage a broad network of professional development resources to enhance the knowledge/impact of efforts NEFE-wide
■ Perform other duties to achieve organizational goals
Minimum Qualifications
■ 10+ years of increasingly responsible marketing experience in advocacy/educational non-profit, community foundations, government agencies, and/or similar fields
■ Advanced degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field
■ Proven background in designing, delivering, and implementing strategic marketing and brand management plans
■ Excellent supervision, leadership, and management skills; established experience building collaborative, high functioning teams
■ Extensive digital experience and deep knowledge/application of areas including (but not limited to): SEO, PPC management, CRMs, digital marketing and social media strategies/channels, and content/email marketing
■ Deep experience utilizing data, analytics, and KPIs to drive decision-making
■ Proven background building, managing, and measuring brand equity
■ Proficiency in modern design and marketing technology assets
■ Proven experience embedding diverse, equitable, and inclusive approaches across all aspects of work and partnerships
■ In-depth knowledge of scalable solutions, practices, and approaches to attract, grow, and sustain diverse audience segments
■ Exceptional communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills
■ Exceptional eye for detail and content organization
■ Ability to anticipate and effectively manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment and under pressure
■ Successful background in project management
■ Matrixed budget management experience
Preferred Qualifications
■ Professional affiliations with local, regional, and/or national marketing associations
■ Content knowledge and understanding of the financial education/financial literacy field
Physical/Mental Demands of the Job
This is a full-time position, based in Denver with standard work hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Up to 50% remote work is available locally. Employees collaborate with their supervisor and HR to determine the optimal work schedule. NEFE consistently monitors the environment to maintain the health and well-being of our staff.
