Mental Health Colorado (MHC), Colorado’s leading advocate for Healthier Minds Across the Lifespan, seeks a skilled and experienced Director of Development implement our fundraising strategies in support of our Safer Housing initiative in Arapahoe County. Safer Housing provides housing and care management support for adult individuals with health needs who are, or are at risk of, justice-involvement. This role will encompass individual outreach, including major gifts; direct mail; online appeals; foundation and government grants; corporate sponsorships; employee giving campaigns; and ticketed and stewardship events, including MHC’s annual Tribute Gala.
The Director of Development for Safer Housing will have primary responsibility for sustaining, diversifying, and growing Safer’s fundraising base; maintaining current relationships with existing donors; and forging new relationships with prospective supporters.
The Development Director will also:
Execute the organization’s vision for growing sustainable support across revenue sources by implementing annual and multi-year fundraising plans based on relationship building activities
Oversee special event management, stewardship activities, mission-driven content through all vehicles and identify impact stories to inspire support for the Safer Housing initiative
Monitor and enhance donor retention by implementing team-developed strategies, while tracking processes and identifying meaningful engagement opportunities aligned with our mission, fundraising goals, and advocacy priorities
Manage a portfolio of select donors and provide strategic support for leadership’s portfolio activity
Establish and execute annual, major gifts and planned giving program strategies
Participate in the Safer Housing budget process to establish attainable and aspiring revenue goals
In alignment with MHC leadership, establish revenue goals and activity metrics; track revenue and fundraising metrics against goals and budget to drive data-informed fundraising decisions
Participate in subsequent years’ strategic planning for all major fundraising initiatives
Work closely with contracted grant writer to ensure an organized and effective prospecting, application, and reporting process; oversee the execution of all Safer funding proposals
Ensure our CRM (Salesforce) is consistently leveraged as the tracking, communications, and engagement tool for donors and stakeholders and is reliably viewed as our single source of truth internally
