Executive Director
Meeker Mustang Makeover (MMM) is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization in a newly created leadership role. The position will start as part-time in the first year, with the plan to expand to 3/4 time in year 2.
Our organization is dedicated to creating awareness of the wild horse in the American West, and to finding homes for those in captivity through our Annual competition for mustang trainers. MMM provide’s Clinics and instruction for youth and adults to make every adoption a success. Learn more at meekermustangmakeover.org
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Works in partnership with MMM Board to oversee all aspects of the organization, sustain its excellence, and broaden its impact.
- In conjunction with the Board develop a 3 to 5 year strategic plan with measurable goals and evaluation measures for operational sustainability, community engagement, communications, and Board development.
- Works closely with the Marketing Manager and Board to create an effective communications plan to raise the profile of the organization.
- In conjunction with the board directs and oversees the development of marketing and communication initiatives, including event promotion, social media, management of graphic agencies, etc
- Establishes strong partnerships in the community to leverage goodwill, financial support, and program development.
- Identifies new partnership opportunities with Native American communities, ranching/farming communities, Stables, Dude Ranches, Veterans and other groups interested in MMM’s mission and activities.
- Assists and coordinates fundraising with board members.
- Coordinates and manages operational logistics relating to all activities of the Meeker Mustan Makeover.
- Willingness to work a varied schedule, which will include weekends (e.g. training clinics and competition event weekends).
- Represents the Meeker Mustang Makeover at special Events.
- File and maintain all regulatory financial reports and documents can manage annual insurance policy.
- Liaison with any Grant consultants.
- Required to attend and set up all meetings in Meeker.
Qualifications and Experiences
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in the non-profit or business sector.
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge, skills, and ability to effectively work with governmental agencies including town and county officials, the Bureau of Land Management, and other governing bodies.
- Success in fundraising, grant writing, and managing multiple revenue streams.
- Candidates must be self-motivated and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. The successful candidate will be resourceful,
detail-oriented, systematic, inquisitive, a fast learner, and a good communicator and good collaborator.
- Knowledge or interest in Ranching and Equine environment a plus
Job Information:
- Workplace type: remote and on-location in Meeker, Rio Blanco County, Colorado
- Job-type: part-time ½ time in year 1, increasing to ¾-time in year 2 Job duration: grant-funded position. Role after year 2 is subject to additional funding.
- Required Travel: approx. 10%
