Clinical Director
Position: Clinical Director, Behavioral Health – Licensed (LPC, LCSW, PSY, LAC)
Reports to: Board of Directors and Interim Chief Operations Officer until CEO has been hired
Supervises: Clinical Managers, Behavioral Health Clinicians – Licensed (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, PSY, LAC), Coordinators
Position Hours: Full time (40 Hours); M-F; Hours 8am-4pm or 11am – 7pm (1-2 evenings per week); in-person/on-site, with 1-2 remote days possible

Maria Droste Counseling Center provides collaborative behavioral health services for community members, regardless of their ability to pay. We partner with other community organizations to bring mental health services to where people already live and receive care, including schools, medical settings, senior living facilities, affordable housing, and family justice centers. Additionally, we provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and families through our traditional outpatient programming. We are a growing, dynamic, evolving workplace and seeking a candidate who is interested in and able to grow with the organization.
Job Summary: The Clinical Director, in collaboration with leadership, provides oversight of all clinical services including: supervision of Clinical Managers and their oversight of internship program, co-located services, and outpatient therapy services; oversight of the Access Center; supervision for Licensed Behavioral Health Clinicians; indirect supervision of pre-licensed and intern clinicians and oversight of contract clinicians. This position supports the development and implementation of clinical services and clinician professional development in line with the overarching strategic plan. The Clinical Director works closely with the Clinical department, Technology, Compliance and other departments, emphasizing consistent, ethical practices; improving the clinical skills and professional development of all clinical providers; ensuring sufficient and high quality resources to support direct service programming, creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Recruitment, training, evaluation, partnership management, grant support, strategy, planning, and budgeting are key functions of this role.

Clinical Department Leadership and Supervision
- Engage in the development and execution of organizational strategic initiatives in collaboration with the Leadership Team with responsibility for meeting specified objectives.
- Lead the execution of in-office, telehealth, and co-located and outpatient clinical service provision.
- Evaluate, develop, and implement processes for excellent client experiences from Access Center to completion of services.
- Supervise Clinical Managers and Behavioral Health Clinicians by providing regular and consistent administrative and clinical supervision and support, mentorship, and strategic vision and guidance for service development and improvement.
- Guide the development and strategy of supervision, including best practice and competency development, communication, supervision matches, training, and evaluation.
Clinical Services Administration
- Foster relationships with stakeholder groups including university partners, behavioral health organizations, and funders.
- Work with team leads to determine resource needs to facilitate service delivery volumes and recruit and train human resources to fulfill needs.
- Set and maintain high standards of clinical service providers and services.
- Oversee evaluation of clinical training, trainees and supervisors.
- Work with Compliance, Clinical Managers and other teams to ensure maintenance and communication of updated materials, manuals, policies, expectations, training schedules, and Google drive resources.
- Communicate reminders and expectations to clinical personnel throughout the year.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Team, Compliance/Credentialing, Evaluation, and Technology to ensure best practices, policies, and procedures are properly communicated and enforced.
- Communicate regularly to various stakeholders on evaluations, recommendations, strengths of department, service revenue, and other topics through written reports and presentations.
Training & Consultation
- Organize and coordinate supervision training for clinical personnel.
- Develop and support the implementation of a comprehensive clinical training program for internship, fellowship, licensed clinicians, supervision, and contract therapists.
- Staff and facilitate regular fellowship, supervisor, and contract consultation groups, and support Clinical Managers to ensure provision of group supervision for interns.
- Provide direct training for clinical personnel in areas of expertise.
- Consultation with supervisors regarding arising concerns and challenges; supporting performance improvement plans and coaching as needed.
Financial Management
- Lead financial performance and budget oversight for specific clinical budgets.
- Collaboratively determine service hours standards for sustainable service revenues and support managers and other direct service providers with meeting goals.
- Create and utilize data dashboards for financial decision making, as well as measuring outcomes.
- Collaboratively write for grants to build capacity for services; oversee the implementation of meeting grant objectives and provide data for reporting.
- Make recommendations for departmental adjustments; collaborate with leadership to lead change initiatives necessary for best practice, financial sustainability, and compliance.
Required Background, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- MA or doctorate degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy or related degree with active licensure in the State of Colorado (LAC, LPC, LCSW, LP, LMFT); LCSWs are strongly encouraged to apply.
- 5-7 years of postgraduate experience, including direct clinical experience with, and training in, diverse and underserved populations.
- Bilingual Spanish language proficiency is highly desirable; Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience in program development and oversight, including strategy, budgeting, grants, evaluation and reporting.
- Experience supervising, managing, leading clinicians, supervisors, and managers to meet goals and expectations.
- Experience in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives; leading and collaborating with other departments to ensure successful implementation and adjustments where necessary.
- Educational or field experience in training therapists.
- Experience in conflict resolution and/or restorative justice practices.
- Highly organized and collaborative in managing a variety of competing priorities.
- Creative problem solver, with strong verbal and written skills to convey and teach complex concepts, lead others, and demonstrate flexibility.
- Commitment and sensitivity to multicultural awareness, humility, and inclusiveness, both personally and professionally.
- Passion for working in a non-profit setting and for the advancement of the mental health workforce for underserved populations.
