Heart & Hand Out of School Time Program Manager
Heart & Hand is looking for a creative, organized, and compassionate Program Manager who is dedicated to ensuring that all children have the opportunity to succeed.
Heart & Hand Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering all young people to realize their potential. H&H runs after-school programming for youth in 1st-8th grade Monday-Friday from school dismissal-6:00pm (depending on site), full-day summer programming, a career & college program for students in 9th grade and beyond, and we extend support to enrolled families by providing resources, referrals, and emergency assistance.
Job Description
Program Implementation and Infrastructure
- Build strong relationships with Heart & Hand students and families
- Design and implement enriching and creative after school and summer programming in the areas of 1) academic enrichment, 2) health and wellness, 3) social emotional skill building, and 4) creative expression
- Maintain updated schedule of after-school and summer programming and communicate that with all staff, families, and school partners
- Provide on site support to staff and students including but not limited to facilitating restorative justice conversations, behavior management, coordination of pick up, and transition support
- Organize and maintain orderly program space, supplies, and equipment
- Family support and engagement:
- Maintain regular contact with families in person, via email, over the phone
- Act as an advocate for students and/or family member(s) with school(s) or other agencies, making referrals for assessed needs when necessary
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, especially school faculty and staff, including coordinating with partners such as Food Bank of the Rockies, Denver Food Rescue, and workshop providers
- Build and maintain a supportive, sustainable on-site culture with students, staff and school stakeholders
- Perform other appropriate tasks as assigned
Personnel
- Provide supervision and coaching for all staff members on site
- Support the task supervision of all interns and volunteers on site
- Active involvement in the hiring and onboarding coordination of new site staff
- Identify appropriate Professional Development trainings for staff
- Nurture the development of staff, interns, and volunteers
Administration
- Work closely with Program Director and other Program Managers through regular communication and collaboration
- Collect all attendance and program activity data collection for program evaluation, grant reporting, and fundraising
- Work with COO to ensure all Neighborhood Youth Organization Licensing materials are posted and protocols are being followed, as well as ensure staff certification requirements are up to date
- Attend weekly staff meetings, Program Manager Meetings, and manage virtual communication in a timely manner
- Maintain and organize personal work schedule through use of Google calendar
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of part time staff timesheets
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience working with school aged children in a setting similar to an afterschool program or 2 years of program management experience for school aged youth
- Preference for experience running a licensed child care, neighborhood youth organization program
- Must demonstrate a commitment to youth development
- Valid driver’s license and mode of transportation preferred (job could entail occasional driving/transporting)
- Employment is contingent on a criminal background check
- Spanish speaking preferred
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday with flexibility in scheduling the 40 hours to meet the needs of different meetings and responsibilities.
