POSITION OVERVIEW   

· Location: Denver, CO  

· Reports to: Green Pathways Project Manager 

· Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; ~9:00am-2:00pm; ~25 hours/week with varying hours 

· Compensation: $20.00 per hour 

· Status: Part-Time, Temporary, Non-Exempt 

· Work Model: In Person 

· Benefits: Accrued sick time, RTD EcoPass

POSITION SUMMARY   

Reporting to the Green Pathways Project Manager, a Green Infrastructure Training (GRIT) Program participant will embody community leadership skills, deepen their relationship with the natural world, learn how to succeed in the workplace, develop green job skills, and launch their green careers. The Groundwork Denver Green Infrastructure Training Program is a two-month employment exploration program for young adults aged approximately 18 to 29 years old. Participants are expected to fully engage in hands-on projects and in-class sessions to increase chances for employability within green jobs. Participants leave with valuable trainings and certifications as well as a year of career placement support and foundational knowledge regarding:

· Tree & rain garden training and installation 

· Stormwater Management Trainings 

· River Watch water quality monitoring and reporting workshops 

· OSHA-10, HAZWOPPER-40, CPR/First Aid Certifications 

 

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS  

COMMITMENT  

Participants are expected to engage in these ways: 

· Take responsibility and accountability for their own learning and development, actively seeking opportunities for growth. 

· Maintain open and respectful communication with program staff, instructors, mentors, and peers. 

· Inform program staff promptly of any issues, concerns, or barriers that may affect their participation. 

ENGAGEMENT 

Participants are expected to contribute to a learning community in these ways: 

· Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and knowledge relevant to their career goals. 

· Participate in networking events, job fairs, and other opportunities to connect with industry professionals. 

· Complete all assigned tasks, homework, and projects to the best of their ability. 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 

Participants are expected to be accountable to your professional development in these ways: 

· Take advantage of professional development opportunities offered by the program, such as additional training, certifications, or workshops. 

· Stay informed about industry trends and advancements relevant to their field. 

TEAM MEMBER 

As a member of the Groundwork Denver team, you are expected to: 

· Actively participate in Groundwork Denver’s journey towards Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) including discussions, readings, strategic planning, self-reflection, action, and more.  

· Participate in shared office responsibilities.  

· Contribute to a positive office culture.  

· Collaborate respectfully and productively with co-workers to achieve Groundwork Denver’s overall mission.  

OTHER EXPECTATIONS 

Participants must: 

· Maintain a 90% attendance with mandatory attendance the following dates: 

o Dependable Strengths Articulation Workshop: September 23rd – September 24th  

o Stormwater Training: September 30th – October 4th  

o OSHA-10 & HAZWOPPER-40 Training: October 7th – October 11th 

· Be between the ages of 18-29 years old based on funding requirements. 

· Have reliable transportation to the Groundwork Denver office at 3280 N. Downing Street, Denver, CO 80205. 

· Be interested in conservation, community and environmental stewardship. 

· Have commitment to teamwork, safety, follow-through, education, and hard work. 

· Be physically able to work outside and lift 25lbs of material. 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE   

· Passionate and Knowledgeable: Interest in environmental justice and/or community engagement, with a commitment to Groundwork Denver’s mission.  

· Job Readiness: Interested in increasing employability to obtain stable employment. 

· Communicator: Effective, timely, and empathetic communicator across all mediums.  

· Team Player: Actively contributes to their group to complete tasks, meet goals, or manage projects. 

· Willingness to Learn: Collaborate with staff, partners and peers to share ideas and learn from each other’s experiences. 

· Cooperative: Values different opinions, work styles, and identities amongst participants. 

· Hard-working: ready to work on physical projects, comfortable in outdoor environments, and always ready with a positive attitude. 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION   

· Our main office is located in the Cole neighborhood of Denver, accessible by public transportation and is ADA compliant.
