Operations Manager – Safety & Facilities

Responsible for the development, planning and implementation of the Safety Program and Culture, Sustainability, Process Improvement, and Facility and equipment maintenance programs for Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR). To manage compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Institute of Baking (AIB), Federal Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other regulatory requirements of our operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Lead and support a team of professionals in the departments of:

a. Food and Occupational Safety

b. Facilities Maintenance

c. Equipment Repair and Sustainability

· Responsible for compliance with OSHA, AIB, FSMA, FDA, USDA and other regulatory requirements of our operations

· Collaborate with department leaders (Operations and Transportation) at all Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) locations in the areas of Facility management, Safety and Food Safety to promote a proactive safety culture

· Responsible for collaboration with warehouse management and staff to assess safety risks, develop corrective action plans, and implement measures to eliminate or mitigate hazards

· Own results of accident investigations to determine root causes, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence

· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives

· Identify and develop end user training programs and other educational opportunities for AIB and other operational Safety programs

· Oversees facilities management and upkeep of 2 warehouses (116,000 sq ft. and 36,000 sq ft.) involving building maintenance, risk management, energy management, vendor management, contract management, and equipment maintenance (eventually moving to a 270,000 sq ft. warehouse)

· Responsible for managing and monitoring a building management system as well as a maintenance ticketing system

· Lead process improvement within operations, including training and workshops to utilize lean methodologies and root cause analysis to improve operations, safety, and sustainability

· Collaborate with Operational leadership and other leaders organizationally in the development and implementation of sustainability processes and program strategies in delivering goals and performance standards

· Identify and strategize methods to minimize the environmental footprint of facilities, operations and landfill utilization.

Required Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree a plus; or equivalent work-related experience. STEM focus is a plus

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related role, food industry experience preferred

· OSHA 30 preferred or can acquire within 60 days of hire

· Extensive experience using Microsoft Office Suite and online technologies

· Experience using collaborative tools for file storage and sharing, meeting scheduling, and virtual collaboration preferred

Expected Hours of Work:

This role is considered full-time exempt working approximately 40 hours per week. Travel within the geographic region may be required. Work schedules may vary each week and consist of weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays. This position will be required to be on-call to help address any urgent facility and safety issues.
