Building Electrification Program Manager
JOB SUMMARY
This position will work closely with nonprofit representatives, multifamily property owners, tenants, and contractors to identify opportunities for building electrification (BE) in commercial buildings across the state of Colorado. We look to this position as a key contributor to the success of EOC’s beneficial electrification program goals. The position works in partnership with the commercial programs including the Nonprofit Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP) and the Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program. This position will also support the residential programs and manage special projects as needed.
Essential Functions
- Support development of and implement strategy for building electrification at EOC
- Manage and lead BE project building identification, contractor selection, equipment selection, installation, contractor invoicing, expense tracking, and site verifications
- Oversee M&V of installation and energy bills analysis
- Support program manager to identify leveraged funding opportunities and assign funding as appropriate
- Build a library of funding sources and resources related to BE
- Develop and grow relationships with contractor base for commercial BE installations
- Identify building and energy efficiency upgrades needed to prepare building for BE and work with PM to execute
- Support building representatives, staff and residents throughout project with scheduling, communication and educational support to help minimize capacity needs of buildings being served
- Be central point of coordination and support between contractors, engineers, funders, building representatives and participants
- Lead scope of work discussions with building representatives, engineers and contractors to determine which equipment options are viable solutions for each project
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of EOCs electrification projects and approach, for continuous improvement
- Represent EOC at speaking engagements and respond to requests for information relating to BE as needed
- Share expertise with EOC staff to educate and build confidence around electrification
- Establish building Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) access and confirm proper configuration and maintenance of account
- Support residential electrification projects as needed
- Contribute to and manage special projects relating to BE upon request
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Building electrification knowledge, building science training (e.g., BPI, LEED, CEM), engineering or energy efficiency background or academic degree
- Understanding of commercial and residential electrification equipment (heat pumps) and actions needed to prepare a building for beneficial electrification
- Ability to analyze energy usage and utility bills to understand how BE will affect utility bills
- Discretion with various stakeholders who may or may not support electrification
- Ability to move conversations forward and make decisions that are best for EOC participation with limited information, options or resources
- Ability to condense and explain technical information in concise and pointed summaries that can be understood by diverse constituents
- Ability to stay organized, self-motivated and detail oriented
- Effective relationship building with building representatives and contractors
- Excellent communication skills and ability to act with discretion around sensitive information
- High attention to detail and the ability to perform multiple tasks under strict deadlines and changing priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
- Comfort working in a changing landscape and continuing education to maintain expertise in electrification

1-2 years experience in building electrification and an interest in continuing education around electrification
- 2-4 years project management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise with building electrification initiatives at local, state, and federal levels
- Knowledge of electrification upgrade process and experience managing BE projects in commercial buildings and residential settings
- Experience in managing utility DSM programs and utility client relationships
- Mechanical or electrical engineering experience
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations, affordable housing, income qualified participants, or disproportionately impacted communities
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Valid driver’s license required or the ability to be present to meet at various locations, and times as required
- Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, talking, hearing
Work Environment
Hybrid – office location in downtown Denver and employees’ home or remote Colorado location
- Proof of Covid vaccination required
- Salary Range 75,000 – 85,000.00 annual equivalent
