Business Outreach Specialist
The Organization:
Denver South is both the geographic area along the I-25 highway and rail corridor south of Denver, and the organization of community and business leaders working to create an environment where businesses and workers thrive. This is done by collaborating with regional partners to foster quality job growth and efficient transportation solutions.
The Position:
The Business Outreach Specialist is a grant-funded position responsible for promoting and encouraging use of the corridor’s multi-modal transportation
solutions to employers and employees located in the region. In addition, this position will be expected to advance Denver South’s goals and support initiatives to increase awareness of the Denver South region through outbound engagement. The Business Outreach Specialist reports to the Director of Business Engagement.
Essential Functions:
- Initiates proactive and systematic efforts to significantly increase outreach to employers in the Denver South region to encourage the adoption of multi-modal transportation benefits (including but not limited to: RTD light rail and bus, scooters, bicycles, van pool and carpool) for their employees.
- Advances Denver South’s goals and efforts to elevate the business environment in the Denver South region by serving as a liaison to employers with the ability to converse about workforce development, business initiatives, etc.
- Assists with grant management and administration. Responsible for grant reporting, tracking and meeting all deadlines for both reporting and grant renewal.
- Collaborates with the Director of Business Engagement and the marketing team in the development of creative campaigns to promote transportation demand management (TDM) strategies.
- Performs relevant data collection and research, and creates presentations as needed for internal and external/employer use.
- Maintains the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database. Responsible for pulling reports for Board meetings, partner meetings and as needed (currently using Salesforce)
- Plans, coordinates, staffs, and attends various Denver South or community events/meetings, as directed by supervisor.
- Strategizes, and works closely with, the Director of Business Engagement to expand overall business outreach initiatives and systems for Denver South. This includes identifying employer trends as well as possible resources and tools that provide value to the business community.
- Transitions client company issues or concerns to the Vice President of Transportation & Mobility, the Director of Business Engagement, or other internal colleagues who are uniquely suited to address specific needs.
- Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.
- Consistently promotes, supports, works, and acts in a manner that advances the Denver South mission, goals, and values.

- Must have strong software experience specifically in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Forms. Prior use of a CRM system (I.e. Salesforce) required.
- Must have a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to proficiently use and learn various additional technologies and software.
Education:
- An associate degree is required.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of community outreach, sales, or fundraising experience required.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in executing successful community or public outreach campaigns and experience working with the public and private sectors. Experience in the transportation and mobility space is preferred but not required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
- A valid driver’s license and consistent/reliable transportation is required.
- A driving record (MVR) and criminal history background checks will be required
prior to the start of employment.

- Position requires in-office four days a week with option to work from home office on 5th day.
- Work is generally performed in an indoor professional office environment and participation in outdoor events, i.e. working a booth at an event occurs regularly.
- Frequent local travel on behalf of the organization is required, and some national travel may be required.
- Position requires flexibility of scheduled work hours which may include evening and weekend hours for community events, meetings inside and outside of the organization may be required.

- Ability to stand, lift, bend, walk and reach.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Strenuous physical work involving heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
