Community Organizer – Colorado River Valley Team

Colorado River Valley Team (CRVT), seeks an individual committed to the Colorado River Valley area (Garfield and Eagle Counties). The Community Organizer will work alongside the Executive Director, Colorado River Valley resident team, Governance Team and Community Partners. The Community Organizer will collaborate in maintaining and organizing team documentation, coordinating the logistics of events, meetings, and programs; and in communication with the resident team and with the Colorado River Valley. The Community Organizer is an employee of CNDC and adheres to CNDC policies and procedures.

This position has the following Functions and Responsibilities:

Organizer:

The Community Organizer will maintain a positive relationship with Resident Team members. This will include:

• Assist with meeting facilitation and group decision-making.
• Assist in identifying capacity building needs of the Resident Team and Leadership Team.
• Participate in identification, recruitment, and placement of Resident Team candidates who reflect the diversity of Grand Valley and the needs of the Team.

The Community Organizer will maintain and build positive relationships with the Garfield and Eagle Counties. This will include:

• Building ongoing, meaningful relationships with the priority populations:
  • Monolingual Spanish speakers
  • Low-income families
  • Middle and high school youth
• Help build relationships with existing English and Spanish speaking entities, such as non-profits, businesses, city government and schools.
• Keep community members and leaders informed of the mission, programs, services, and successes.
• Help organize community conversations around specific issues.
• Provide notes and/or documentation of meetings and conversations. These may include:
  • Written summaries of meetings or events
  • Compilation of log sheets
• Assist with event planning

Resident and Governance Team Administration and Support

• Send meeting reminders to resident team members, childcare providers, and interpreters.
• Maintain a positive relationship with the Executive Director; accept direction and provide guidance.
• Keep track of office supplies and make any necessary purchases.

Marketing, Promotion, and Communication

• General promotion of Residents, events, classes, and programming.
• Colorado River Valley Team Facebook page by sharing up-to-date information about team activities, programs, and progress.
• Work with Organizers to market and promote events and programs.
• Develop and share our monthly event/program calendar.
• Support other marketing and communications that may include but are not limited to a team newsletter, website, etc.

Other assigned functions

Requirements and Required Experience:

● Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or work experience equivalent to four years in community work

● Experience with communication technologies as appropriate to the community

● Passionate about Garfield and Eagle Counties

● Open to different perspectives

● Ability to work effectively with teams

● Familiarity with the work of the Colorado River Valley Team
