Part-Time Bilingual Therapist

 General Statement of Duties:

The Bilingual Therapist is responsible for providing direct client services, facilitating group therapy sessions, collaborating with other clinical staff, and collaborating with SungateKids staff members to ensure optimal outcomes for clients. This therapist will serve a population of children ages 10 and up that speak Spanish and/or English. The Bilingual Therapist is responsible for carrying out the philosophy and objectives of SungateKids as established by the Board of Directors.

The Bilingual Therapist reports to the Clinical Director, who reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

Skills Required:

The Bilingual Therapist must possess a thorough working knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse specifically childhood sexual abuse. The Bilingual Therapist must have the demonstrated licensure and at least two years of previous history in counseling children, adolescents, and adults. The Bilingual Therapist must hold a systems focus as much of the caseload will involve the treatment of family systems engaged in a judicial process. The Bilingual Therapist must also have a familiarity with engaging with a multidisciplinary team including caseworkers, attorneys, and law enforcement.

The Bilingual Therapist must maintain good interpersonal relations with peers, other professionals and staff in the completion of assigned responsibilities. The Bilingual Therapist must also demonstrate the capacity to cope with the intense emotions of others without his or her own thoughts or feelings interfering with the process.

The Bilingual Therapist position is a part-time position and includes facilitation of Therapeutic Support Groups after regular business hours.
