Job Description 

Gates Camp is owned and operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver (BGCMD). Gates Camp opened in 1974 and is located west of Boulder, Colorado. Campers range in age from 6 to 18 years and are primarily from communities in the Metro Denver area. Gates Camp offers traditional camp activities that include archery, kayaking, handicrafts, nature games, hiking, team-building, and campfire programs.

For Summer 2025, Gates Camp will operate as a day camp most Tuesdays through Thursdays with 1 Friday in June (date TBD) and 1 Friday in July (date TBD)

The On-Site Healthcare Professional will be responsible for treating illnesses and injuries and determining when outside medical care is required. The successful candidate will work with Boys & Girls Club members, Activity Leaders, Clubs Staff, Cook, and parents (as needed) to address health needs.

The On-Site Healthcare Professional will at times provide instruction to Campers about how to proactively promote their personal health and well-being (e.g. hydration, protection from the sun, proper nutrition, and asking for help) and will support professional development opportunities for Staff.

Specifically, the On-Site Healthcare Professional’s responsibilities are (essential job responsibilities):

•  Support the health and safety of all Campers.
•  Maintain documentation of all actions and treatment.
•  Work with entire Camp Staff to provide a healthy and positive outdoor experience for youth.
•  Assist with preventative healthcare, treat illnesses and injuries, and determine when outside medical care is required.
•  Report all accidents and/or injuries to the Gates Camp Manager, Club Staff, Activity Leaders, and Club Directors; fill out, submit and file the appropriate paperwork.
•  Provide direct supervision and care of children who are stationed in the Gates Camp Health Clinic.
•  Provide basic first aid and other healthcare treatment in the field when necessary.
•  Conduct comprehensive inventory at the beginning and end of the season.
•  Consistently report inventory needs, concerning medical/first aid supplies to the Gates Camp Manager throughout the season.
•  Change and launder sheets/bedding and soiled clothing that are used by kids.
•  Monitor pre-meal hand washing, conduct demonstration of proper handwashing for all Campers on the first day of camp.
•  Keep Health Clinic clean/disinfected; stocked; put away and organize supplies/equipment and records daily.
•  Be available to assist groups during all meals, free time, and as needed.
•  Add/Contribute to existing systems and camp infrastructure.
•  Support systems that manage and mitigate risk for Campers and Staff to provide a safe environment.
•  Ensure that water distribution and hydration stations are installed across the property, stocked and accessible to Campers and Staff at all times while they engage in activities; work with Campers to maintain safe levels of hydration.
•  Perform all other duties as assigned by the Gates Camp Manager.

This is a seasonal position with a start date of May 27, 2025, and an end date of July 25, 2025.
