About AATPC:
Founded in 2010, Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of
Colorado (AATPC) Nonprofit’s mission is to make the benefits of animal-assisted
psychotherapy (AAP) accessible to people of all ages, income levels, insurance
statuses and life circumstances.
We do this by providing low fee and professional fee animal assisted counseling and
psychotherapy to clients at our Arvada Ranch, and by training mental health
professionals throughout the world how to provide AAP to their clients, AATPC
has grown quickly. Currently we provide about 530 counseling sessions
each month. As a state licensed community counseling organization, we are
tasked with increasing our service offerings to match the growing need for low
fee services. We are based on a fee-for-service model and our training program
supports the nonprofit but leaves little in the way of development. AATPC needs
to have the financial flexibility to weather changes with Medicaid and other
insurance institutions while providing an increasingly competitive wage to our
employees.
