Office/Event Manager

African Leadership Group seeks an Office Manager to join our team.

We are searching for a talented and motivated office manager to oversee the daily operations of our office and assist with planning and organizing programs and events. You should be well-organized, have excellent communication skills, and attention to detail. You will be primarily managing schedules and event planning. 

Job Duties

• Overseeing clerical tasks such as work processing, scheduling, report preparation, and other services. 

• Manages the maintenance, and repair of office supplies and equipment.

• Develops processes and procedures that ensure the efficient and cost-effective running of the office.  

• Ensures that day-to-day operations align with organizational objectives. 

• Assists with identifying the requirements, expectations and helps create a project plan for events. 

• Communicates with vendors, participants, and all members involved during the event planning process to ensure everything is in order.

• Manages all event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes.

• Conduct walkthroughs, and final inspections on the day of the event to ensure everything adheres to “event” standards.

• Assist with marketing (social media, Canva) & communications.

• Helps secure fundraising sponsorships for Afrik Impact and all sponsor events with fulfilling agreements.

• Serves as staff liaison to the ALG committees, attends meeting, assist with agenda and minutes.

• Maintain ALG’s website using WordPress.

• Excel spreadsheets.

• Create slideshow presentations and graphics.

• Create and manage registrations for programs events via Blacktie (Spotlight Colorado).

• Creates expenses for invoices and submits to accounts payable. 

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or 4 years’ experience as an office manager

• At least 4 years’ experience executing events

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Well-organized with excellent multi-tasking abilities

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Communication skills

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in meeting and event management 

Work Environment

• This position is required to be in person at the office and at events.

• The standard 40-hour work week with a 9-5 shift applies.

• Overtime is required during the planning and execution of special events.

• Some light local travel to run errands and to events are required.

• Moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, and lifting is involved in many daily activities.
