Overnight Advocate – Part Time
Job Description Summary: Provide advocacy support and empowerment to residents at A Woman’s Place (an inclusive domestic violence shelter in Greeley, Colorado). Position is 25 hours per week working on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:30pm to 8am.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and the safehouse location.
- Provide crisis phone line coverage.
- Provide individualized advocacy support to participants (intake, needs assessments, and create individual service plan).
- Empower residents and assist with safety planning and community resources.
- Complete accurate documentation.
- Assist with maintaining shelter cleanliness including client rooms, common areas and receiving donations.
- Work cooperatively with other staff, interns, donors, and community housing partners.
- Maintain accurate and timely data records of activities, client notes, phone logs, financial assistance, and other services provided.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and manage workflow.
- Proven computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual preferred.
Requirements
Education: Associates Degree OR equivalent work experience.
Experience: 1-2 years of advocacy experience preferred. Knowledge of housing, women’s issues, domestic violence, and community resources preferred.
Physical Demands: Typing, Bending, Twisting, Standing, Climbing Stairs, Reaching above shoulder height, Lifting/Carrying up to 40 pounds.
