Senior Development Director
A Precious Child, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential. A Precious Child envisions a future where every child grows up to be a secure, self-reliant, contributing member of their community.
In working towards helping A Precious Child meet its overall objective of providing basic necessities for children, the Senior Development Director is responsible for working alongside the Development Team to ensure fundraising goals and objectives are met to achieve the annual budget set for the organization.
Hours: Full-Time, Exempt, must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings as needed.
Reports To: Chief Development Officer
Areas of Responsibility:
· Manage, cultivate, and increase giving from a portfolio of 150 – 200 individual, corporate, and foundation donors
· Prospect and secure 25-50 new individual, corporate, and/or foundation donors each year
· Expand the organization’s individual gifts program, focusing on the $5,000-$10,000 gift range, and building a more robust pipeline of donors, using the existing pool of loyal donors as well as identifying and prospecting new donors
· Prospect, steward, solicit, and cultivate corporate donors and foundations
· Regularly meet one-on-one with key partners and funders to share progress and impact of programs, organizational successes and fundraising campaigns
· Support Event Sponsorship solicitation initiatives
· Lead tours and presentations to communicate effectively the work A Precious Child does for children, families and our agency partners in the community to a diverse group of people
· Must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings as needed
· Other duties as assigned
Experience and Qualifications:
· Passion for A Precious Child’s mission and vision
· Solid fundraiser who understands cultivation and has the ability to do a strong ask and can close a gift
· 3-5 years’ direct experience in fundraising; demonstrated ability to increase overall fundraising goals and meet deadlines
· Experience and knowledge of the Denver fundraising landscape preferred
· Experience using donor CRM (Raiser’s Edge is preferred)
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
· Possess excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills; the ability to work effectively with donors, corporate leaders, volunteers and staff
· Ability to communicate in an effective and timely manner using appropriate communication tools and techniques
· Ability to set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress toward goals, create and implement action plans, and evaluate the process and results
· Knowledge of fundraising strategies, trends, and best practices
· Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
· Must be organized and able to manage priorities and deadlines effectively as well as competing demands and handle multiple duties simultaneously
