Programs Manager
A Precious Child, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential. A Precious Child envisions a future where every child grows up to be a secure, self-reliant, contributing member of their community.
In working towards helping A Precious Child meet its overall objectives of providing resources and opportunities for children, the Programs Manager is responsible for the successful execution of the Fill A Backpack, giveSPORTS Equipment Drive, Precious Gift, and Opportunity Fund programs (giveSPORTS, edussentials, and giveARTS) This includes program planning, volunteer management, inventory management, supervision of Programs Coordinators to ensure successful in-kind donation coordination and execution of opportunity fund applications and sport and art camps.
Hours: Full-Time, Exempt, with some evenings and weekends
Reports To: Programs Director

Areas of Responsibility:
Supervision and Leadership
- Handle conflicts or issues within the team promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive and productive work environment
- Maintain open and transparent communication channels with Programs Department ensuring that they are informed about organizational changes, updates and expectations
- Actively listen to the concerns, ideas, and feedback of direct reports, valuing their input and promoting a culture of inclusivity
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic, serving as a role model for direct reports and promoting a culture of continuous improvement
- Uphold ethical leadership standards in all aspects of leadership, ensuring that decisions and actions align with the organization’s values and principles
- Responsible for all administration work in regard to overseeing direct reports, including, but not limited to, approving PTO requests, one on one check ins, disciplinary actions and documentation if needed, hourly time sheets, scheduling flex time, etc
- Responsible for bringinginnovative ideas and solutions to leadership and helping implement new processes when necessary
- Responsible for maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor even in challenging situations to sustain a welcoming and enjoyable experience
- Work with and oversee interns, as needed
- Provide developmental plans for direct reports to continue their growth within the organization and as employee
- Responsible for employee reviews
Pogram Development and execution of Fill A Backpack, giveSPORTS Equipment Drive and Precious Gift
- Develop and implement strategic plans
- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in processes to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency
- Execute training of programs to volunteers, staff, and interns
- Ensure all programs goals are met, including grant requirements
- Create and update policy procedures to create standard practices that help maintain quality, efficiency, and reliability in seasonal programs
- Oversee the purchasing process for program goods and non-program goods including vendor selection, contract negotiation and purchasing agreements
- Coordinate vendors to obtain competitive bids, quotes, and pricing for goods, as well as, building strong relationships with our community vendors to increase
partnership success
- Ensure shipment of program goods arrive in a timely manner and by program deadlines
- Collaborate with A Precious Child Program Impact and Partnership team to share impact stories of Seasonal Programs
Volunteer Management
- Responsible for planning of Seasonal Program volunteer groups which includes strategic task planning and training volunteers
- Create and execute plan for each volunteer shift to ensure a fulfilling volunteer experience
- Supervise volunteers, providing guidance, feedback, and support throughout volunteer shifts
- Address any issues or concerns that arise during volunteer activities, ensuring a positive and fulfilling volunteer experience
- Responsible for working with the Volunteer Department to determine volunteer needs for seasonal programs
Warehouse and Safety
- Ensure safety and proper use of various warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, electronic pallet jacks, and pallets
- Ensure volunteer safety in all areas of warehouse
- Responsible for warehouse set up, cleanliness and organization during seasonal programs
- Ensure all safety standards are upheld by staff, volunteers and interns
- Adhere to organizational safety and OSHA standards
- Engage in collaborative efforts with Donation Center Department to ensure mutual fulfillment of department needs including the shared space between both teams
Inventory Management
- o Responsible for creating
guides to assign value to various seasonal program goods
- Responsible for leading volunteer groups in counting of inventory of program goods at conclusion of programs
- Responsible for keeping accurate records of inventory in coordination with Programs Director
Agency Partners
- Responsible for planning program logistics related to Agency Partners
- Execute Seasonal Agency Partner information meetings
- Execute Seasonal Agency Partner Requests
- Responsible for distribution of goods to Agency Partners
- Responsible for accurate data keeping in Agency Partner Portal and other tracking tools
- Collaborate with Agency Partner Relations Manager to ensure Agency Partner needs are met
Client Relations
- Gather feedback from A Precious Child Empowerment Resource Center Department to determine client needs for Seasonal Programming
- Work collaboratively with A Precious Child Empowerment Resource Center Department to register clients for Seasonal Programs distribution events
- Plan and coordinate the logistics of client distribution events
- Communicate event details, including date, time, location, and eligibility criteria, to clients in collaboration with Empowerment Resource Center Department
- Provide clear instructions and guidelines to Empowerment Resource Center Department including eligibility criteria, date and pick up instructions
- Conduct post-event evaluations to assess the effectiveness of the distribution events and identify areas for improvement
- Distribute client feedback surveys related to Seasonal Programs
Management and support of In-Kind Coordination and Opportunity Fund Programs
- Support the execution of comprehensive donation drive campaigns for the organization’s full set of programming, including setting goals, timelines, and communication strategies
- Support and cultivate relationships with community partners and organizations to secure support and collaboration for donation drives
- Support logistics for donation collection, ensuring smooth and efficient operations throughout the donation process
- Provide volunteer management and event support for giveSPORTS and giveARTS camps
- Provide support for all opportunity fund processing and grant goals
Support Programs Department with additional program needs
- Provide insight and guidance for additional program development
- Provide coverage needs for Precious Pathways Participants
- Provide additional support as needed
- Provide general support to operations team when needs arise
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Experience:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
- 3 years’ experience non-profit program management
- 3 years’ experience in people management, including direct supervision of at least
one direct report
- 2 years’ experience in effective and efficient group volunteer management or similar
experience with customer service
- Strong problem-solving skills to handle and resolve issues and questions from staff, Interns, volunteers, clients and agency partners
- Experience in supervising other staff, interns and volunteers, ensuring an engaging and impactful experienc
- Track record of setting ambitious goals, executing plans effectively, and achieving measurable results, while holding oneself and others accountable for performance and outcomes
- Demonstrates a high level of cultural sensitivity and awareness when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with people of various cultural backgrounds
- Effectively communicates A Precious Child’s mission in community meetings while respecting and acknowledging the cultural diversity present
- Excellent oral communication, presentation, listening, and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service relations
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams
- Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office tools
- Monday.com, Captain database experience preferred but not required
- Works well with timelines and deadlines
- Ability to manage competing demands and handle multiple duties simultaneously
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for A Precious Child’s mission and vision, showcasing a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on children in need
- Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and be physically active for extended periods
