Department: Finance 

Location: Broomfield, CO (Office Headquarters) – Hybrid Options Available

Reports To: Controller

Position Summary 

The Accounting Associate supports the Controller and VP Finance in all accounting functions of the organization including but not limited to accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, bank deposits, donation processing, grant invoicing, account reconciliations and the preparation of process & procedural documentation. The Accounting Associate also assists with other projects as needed and collaborates with other departments, employees and volunteers to achieve the organizations goals. 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities –

· Accounts Receivable 

· Bank reconciliations 

· Grant invoicing 

· Ensure proper account coding of revenue & expenses 

· Accounts Payable backup support 

· Daily ACH and electronic deposit monitoring 

· Create cash deposit batches and deposit at the bank weekly 

· Reconcile donation activity between fundraising database and accounting system 

· Input payroll activity and maintain payroll allocations in the accounting system 

· Monitor and reconcile corporate credit card activity 

· Update department Process & Procedure documentation 

· Assist with annual audit preparation and audit requirements 

· Assist with monthly and annual financial statement preparation 

· Assist with annual budget preparation 

· Review and recommend process improvements  

· Other special projects as needed 

  

Performance Requirements / Skills –

· Minimum high school diploma and 2-3 years experience in accounting or general bookkeeping, preferably in a nonprofit setting 

· General knowledge of accounting principles 

· Computer proficiency including experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook 

· Experience using an accounting software applications such as Financial Edge, Quickbooks, Sage, etc. 

· Experience using a fundraising database such as Raiser’s Edge a plus 

· Experience with importing financial data into an accounting application preferred 

· Strong organizational and time management skills 

· Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines 

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

· Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment 

· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information 

· Must be able to pass a background check
