Position Summary
The purpose of the Summer Camp Performing Arts Instructor position is to serve as the lead instructor of performing arts summer camps (June 2, 2025 – August 9, 2025) on behalf of the Education division of the Arvada Center. Instructors teach weeklong half-day summer camps to students aged 5-8 and 9-12. Instructors are responsible for designing lesson plans and curriculum according to either proposed or pre-determined camp themes or content areas.
Responsibilities
Design and serve as lead instructor in studio space for summer performing arts camps
Communicate with Education summer camp staff in a timely manner in the long and short range planning of camps
Arrive 15 minutes before camp is scheduled to begin to prepare parent sign/in and camp materials
Attend and participate in all required meetings and trainings, including professional development trainings
Exhibit strong organization skills, reliability, and flexibility
Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with all levels of personnel, patrons, and general public in a cooperative and positive manner as a representative of the Arvada Center
Skills and Competencies
Must possess prior performing arts teaching experience (informal or classroom) and enjoy working with children
Applicants should be highly organized, reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic about performing arts education
A passion for creativity, ability to focus on process over product, and a strong understanding of the needs of children aged 5-12.
Basic knowledge of a variety of performing arts, teaching, and classroom management techniques
A background check is required for all summer camp instructors
